Resumen:
The stability of layered Ti4O7 anodes in terms of a model organiccompound oxidation was evaluated by applying different currents. Thefeasibility of implementing cathodic polarization to recover theelectrode activity was particularly explored. A significant decay in theactivity was observed when the same electrode was employedrepeteadly in experiments performed at 1 mA or at 3 mA. The loss ofactivity was more abrupt for the higher current applied. After 6experiments, the electrode employed in experiments at 1mA waspolarized cathodically. Activity was completely restored during the firstusage, but a 20% and 90% decay was registered in the second and thirdcycles, respectively. Further work is being conducted regardingcharacterization of used electrodes to get insights on the deactivationmechanism, and to build strategies for maintaining long termelectrochemical activity.
