Resumen:
Biobasedepoxy polymeric materials are called to progressively replace fully syntheticones as petroleum scarcity becomes a more visible problem and its pricecontinues to rise. Considerable efforts are being undertaken by both academicand industrial actors to reach reliable biobased products with competitiveproperties to alleviate the dependence on fossil resources and to face anincreasing demand on more environmentally friendly materials. The previouschapters of this book covered several aspects and the assessment of relevantproperties of biobased epoxy materials. In this chapter we focus on threeappealing applications of biobased epoxies: self-healing thermosetting polymers and compositematrices, with special emphasis on the recently developed self-healing andrecyclable networks based on dynamic and reversible bonds; pressure sensitiveadhesives, whose growing market, together with increasing restrictions on theuse of fossil-derived precursors make an ideal opportunity for biobased epoxies;finally, the most relevant applications for epoxy foams, both syntactic andthose obtained through a foaming process, are described and discussed.
