The Amphipod species Chelorchestia darwini (Müller, 1864) is recorded for the first time associated to the "Bostrychietum", an association of algae attached to pneumatophores, rhizophores and trunks of the mangrove trees, including cyanobacterium and clorophyceans, however with grate dominance of the rhodophyceans Bostrychia Mont., Caloglossa (Harv.) G. Martens and Catenella Grev. Collections were made in low tide periods, in the Portinho mangrove, municipality of Praia Grande, northern São Paulo state. Samplings were collected by scrape of an area with 10 cm x 5 cm (50 cm²), delimited by a plastic mold. Were collected 128 specimens, being 13 (10,15%) males, 57 (44,53%) females, and 58 (45,31%) juveniles. Density ranged from 2 to 13 specimens per 50 cm², with 6,52 ± 3.02/50 cm² average.
