Resumen:
Active management of the third stage of labor isthe current standard evidence-based recommendationfor the management of the third stage of laborto prevent postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) [1]. Despitethe beneficial effects of active managementas a whole, it is important to assess the effects ofits individual components (uterotonic agents, latecord clamping, controlled cord traction (CCT), anduterine massage) in order to use and recommendthe simplest, most effective, efficient, and safe intervention.CCT is promoted without solid evidenceof its effectiveness, while its safety is uncertain.
