The goal of the chapter focuses on recent developmentsof catalytic materials for the different technologies to produce syngas, suchas steam reforming, dry reforming, andpartial oxidation of natural gas.One way to optimize these processes is to develop novel and more efficient catalysts.The main drawbacks are sintering problems that can be solved by a stronginteraction between the active metals and the support, while coke depositioncould be reduced by increasing the steam content in the feed and synthesizing morestable catalytic materials. The alternative of adding noble metals to Nicatalysts or incorporating promoters is analyzed.
