Ungroundedness in Yablo's Theory of Truth

In Truth, Dependence, and Paradox, Yablo provides characterizations of the notions of groundedness and paradoxicality that stand on equal footing to those provided by Kripke’s theory of truth. One limitation affecting Yablo´s proposal is that the characterizations cannot be drawn in the theory without bringing meta-linguistic resources into play. Another limitation is that the account remains silent on the semantic status of sentences that are neither grounded nor paradoxical. The aim of the talk is to address these limitations. First, I show how to set up a dependence-based construction for a language extended with a paradoxicality predicate. Second, I provide precise characterizations of the remaining semantic notions.
