Resumen:
ydrogels have been demonstrated to be one of the most promising materials in wound care, as they effectively prevent contaminationand a greater progression of infection to deeper tissues. Incorporation of lipid vesicles (liposomes) in these polymeric hydrogel matriceshave appeared as an attractive approach for minimizing burst release effects and improving localization of the drugs supplied, protectingthem at the same time from their degradation. On the other hand, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are very interesting as antimicrobialagents and are widely used in different biomedical applications, such as in the treatment of wound and burn infections. In this work, antimicrobial mamushka-like hydrogels have been developed by the encapsulation of AgNPs into liposomes and the later incorporationof these assemblies in collagen gels (Col-L-AgNPs), to study their bactericidal effects on the growth of Gram positive (Staphylococcusaureus) and negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria. In this sense, both type of microorganism were incubated at 37°C in presenceof the different gels and after 24 h were sown on Petri dishes to study the viability of bacteria at 24 h. As a result, the growth of Grampositive and negative bacteria was strongly inhibited in presence of Col-L-Ag, possibly due to a controlled release of Ag+ions over time. Therefore, these liposomal hydrogels loaded with AgNPs are potentially effective as broad-spectrum antimicrobial platforms.
