Resumen:
INTRODUCTION: The bovine leukemia virus (BLV) cause persistent infection in cattle. The BLV infection elicits an immunological imbalance, favoring the appearance of opportunistic infections and a drop in milk production. In 1-10% of the animals, BLV leads to lethal lymphosarcomas. The mechanisms by which cellular transformation occurs are scarcely understood. Recently, small RNAs encoded by BLV (BLV-miRNAs) have been pointed as essential players in the post-transcriptional regulation of host gene expression. Given its versatility to interact with more than one target gene, BLV-miRNAs would modulate a plethora of cellular processes, including immune response and tumorigenic development. In this work, we analyzed in silico the interaction of 10 mature BLV-miRNAs with bovine genes and performed its functional annotation guided by -Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and -Gene Ontology (GO) terms.RESULTS: 3'-UTR sequences were obtained for 13927 genes according to the UMD3.1 bovine assembly. The interaction of BLV-miRNA-bovine genes was predicted considering complementarity and thermodynamic stability of the RNA / RNA duplex. A total of 5446 genes were identified as potential targets.
