Resumen:
Hybrid molecules have the potential to reduce side effects and overcome drug resistance problems since they contain two or more different pharmacophores and may have multiple mechanisms of action.1 Several hybrid molecules are currently in clinical trials for the treatment of different diseases. Spirocompounds are characterized by their diverse activity, including FDA-approved drugs (e.g. MI-888).2 On the other hand, penicillins are structures of known antibiotic activity, described also for their antiviral, anticancer, anti-inflammatory and cholesterol absorption inhibitory activity.
