Resumen:
The Tropidodryas striaticeps snake is distributed in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and may occur in contact areas between this biome and the Cerrado and Caatinga biomes. Along the geographic distribution, it occurs mainly associated with mountainous areas, although it has not yet been recorded in some locations considered suitable for the species. To contribute to understanding the distribution of this species, here we report the first records of T. striaticeps for the Caparaó National Park, which is among the most important reminders of high elevation Atlantic Forest in Brazil. We recorded an adult and a young individual from different parts of the park. In addition to reporting the presence of T. striaticeps, our study provides information on habitat use by the species. Although this snake is considered common throughout the known geographic distribution, the records reported in the park contribute to the knowledge of the local herpetofauna. It is noteworthy that, even with the great relevance of the park in the context of the Atlantic Forest, one of the most threatened biomes in the world, its herpetofauna is little known, even today.
