Resumen:
Parental behavior during early development has a strong influence on the emotional and social development of infants. Literature on parental behaviors, human or animal, has primarily focused on the interactions between mothers and offspring, with little research directed at understanding on what paternal behavior could add to infant social attachment. Previous studies have shown that strong social attachment as pair bond formation in adult rodents have protective effects on neurodevelopment. In this sense, parenting conditions during early infant development may have differential effects on parenting and litter development. In the present study we aimed to analyze if different parenting conditions (mono- or biparental care), in a non-monogamous mice strain (C57BL/6), may have a differential impact on the parenting behavior during lactation, adolescent behavior and initiation to ethanol consumption.
