Resumen:
In these times of pandemics and economic crises, the need for up-to-date and accurate health information to ensure the continuity of clinical care is more relevant than ever. The only way to achieve this goal is to connect the health systems, not only at the intrahospital level, but at the local, regional and national jurisdictional level. This book tells the efforts and results achieved so far in the standardization of interoperability at a conceptual or semantic level (which defines what we are talking about: procedures, diagnoses, problems, etc.) and how the information is transported and described (which informatic artifacts we use to express ourselves). In short, this book describes the fascinating world of interoperability in health informatics, from its humble beginnings to the current era of distributed information and the Internet of things.
