Resumen:
The automatic vital signs acquisition aims to reducethe time of data entry, to eliminate the errors that are producedby the transcription, to help in the clinical workflow, to enrichthe documentation and to keep it up to date. For several years the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires has beendeveloping systems for the integration of medical equipment intoits Electronic Medical Record system. As part of a plan forcontinuous improvement and as part of a process of accreditationwith the Healthcare Information and Management SystemsSociety (HIMSS), the need arises to extend the scope of thisintegration to all hospital medical equipment present in allcritical care areas. The newly developed system, besides allowing the user to takethe data exported by the multi-parameter monitors and savethem in the patient´s medical record being treated, adds newfunctionalities such as validation of the patient´s identity andselection of the monitor through barcoding, and compatibilitywith the various multi-parameter monitors in critical care areas.A high level of user acceptance was achieved and indicatorsare being generated to quantify the expected benefits
