Resumen:
The preparation and characterization of a palladium catalysts supported on biochar is shown, along with the advantages of its usage over traditional methodologies, based on homogenous catalysts, commonly used in cross-coupling reactions in organic synthesis.Three catalysts are prepared with palladium (approximately 3.5%). Palladium is supported on biochar (Pd/BC), and on pre-treated biochars, with HNO3 10% (v/v) (Pd/BCac) and FeCl3.6H2O (Pd/BCmag). The biochar is a co-product of the fast pyrolysis of sunflower seeds? hulls. The three catalysts are tested for the N-C and N-O coupling following different methodologies. For some cases, high yields to the desired product are achieved (80 and 81% yields to xanthone and to 9-H carbazole, respectively), being these yields higher than the corresponding to homogeneous catalysts, under the same experimental conditions. A promotional effect of the support on the noble metal activity is detected. An attempt to stablish a relationship between the physicochemical properties of the catalysts and their catalytic performance is carried out. The samples are studied with TEM, FTIR, XPS, XRD, Elemental Analysis and N2 sortometry.
