Resumen:
Mostly of cases sepsis are associated to Gram-negative infections where lipopolysaccharides (LPS) have a central role, initially induces an exacerbated production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, it is also capable of inducing endotoxin tolerance. The resolution of inflammation and induction to tolerance involves effectors molecules as IL-10 and glucocorticoids (GC). The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of IL-10 in the pro- and antiinflammatory events induced by LPS, with particular emphasis in the relationship with GC. We use mice Wild-type (WT) BALB/c and IL-10 knockout (IL-10 KO), challenged with one doses of LPS (endotoxic shock) or inoculated daily with different doses of LPS (endotoxin tolerance). Corticosterone levels were determined by RIA, cytokines by ELISA, histopathology by Hematoxylin-eosin and periodic acid Schiff (PAS). Then LPS challenge, WT mice showed high levels of the IL10 in plasma, was not detectable in IL-10 KO mice (valores p
