Resumen:
Air pollution is one of the most damaging environmental and human health factors. This work research the CO2 adsorption capacity of activated carbons synthesized from agro-industrial and domestic waste. The recovery of this abundant waste for producing activated carbon is a sustainable and respectful alternative to the environment. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 physisorption measurement, and Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) characterized the carbon materials. To study the behavior of coals against CO2 adsorption, equilibrium adsorption kinetics and isotherms were analyzed. The best CO2 adsorbent was activated carbon synthesized from beer bagasse (BAC) that captured 385.14 mg g-1 at 6 bar and 120 mg g-1 at 1 bar, the carbon with the highest SBET. ten reuse cycles while maintaining the capture capacity. The results confirm that activated carbons have great capacity and stability to be applied as CO2 adsorbents.
