Resumen:
Streptococcus agalactiae )$S is the leading cause of severe invasive infections in infants less than three months. /eningitis, pneumonia and sepsis are the leading cadres in thesechildren. These infections are described as the most serious thatan individual may suffer in their frst hours of life, the maternaltransmission is the main route of infection . Although intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis +A2 Yith penicillin can signifcantlydecrease neonatal )$S diseases, rates of resistance to antibiotics recommended for pregnant Yomen allergic to penicillin, suchas clindamycin and erythromycin, have increased. Among themechanisms of resistance are changes in the target site mediatedby erm genes frequently associated Yith transposons conjugativeand non-conjugative) on chromosome or plasmid. The genomiclocation of these genes is relevant for its potential interspecifchorizontal transmission. The aim of this study Yas to determinethe location of ermTR gene, one of the most reported in )$S.Three strains of )$S Yere selected for their history of phenotypicresistance and the presence of ermTR gene. The identifcation of)$S strains Yas confrmed by conventional biochemical tests. The extraction and purifcation of plasmid, cromosomal and total&0A Yere performed Yith commercial Mits. The extraction control and/or chromosomal plasmids contamination Yas monitoredby 2C4 Yith target in the 16S gene. Assays location of ermTRgene Yas performed using specifc 2C4. +n the development of2C4 for ermTR gene amplifcation a single sharp band of theexpected size Yas obtained. Location assays shoY the presenceof this ermTR gene into the chromosomal &0A of all the strains.+n conclusion, the chromosomal location of the ermTR gene Yasdetermined and is necessary to continue Yith further studies ofgenomic context to contribute to the MnoYledge of resistance tomacrolides and lincosamides
