Resumen:
A mayor QTL for resistance to Gibberella and Fusarium ear rots in maize had previously been mapped in chromosome two. The QTL spans through approximately 10Mbp between probes bcd1086d and umc259b. We found evidence about the expression of this QTL in other genetic background and report alternative markers that could be apply to assisted selection by reducing the QTL interval. Two markers, INDEL LB21 and SSR phi109642, explained a significant portion of phenotypic variation of the disease induced by F. verticillioides (R2=0,16) or F. graminearum (R2=0,31). LB21 located to the first intron in the pal2 gene, stress the importance of this gene as a candidate for future research on fusarium resistance.
