Evolución de precios relativos de aquellos medicamentos más consumidos por adultos mayores en Argentina (2019-2020)

Objective: The present work aims to characterize the evolution of the relative prices of the drugs most consumed by the beneficiaries of the social work of argentines retirees between August 2019 and August 2020. Materials and methods: A cluster analysis was carried out with the objective of defining groups of drugs that share policies of price increases (reductions). Results: Eight groups of drugs were recognized, most of which are made up of drugs for the treatment of highly complex chronic pathologies. In the absence of agreements, the prices of drugs that are mostly consumed by older adults tend to rise above inflation. Conclusions: Drug price increases can cause individuals to respond by skipping doses, which is extremely detrimental to the health of the patient, in addition to affecting the health system by increasing hospitalizations with their consequent increase in costs.
