Resumen:
Environmental stress source not only degrades the habitats and deteriorates morphologicaland physiological aspects of amphibians, but also is an important stress factor that may affectcommunication and behavior. Amphibians “indicate” the health status of the ecosystems where they occur. Some authors coined the term “ecological death” to refer to those aquatic organisms that no longer play an environmental role or provide an environmental service, or to those that “sacrifice” a biological function to offset the damage or environmental stress. In-situ methods for the recording and sampling of anurans are recommended in contaminatedenvironments. These methods gain environmental relevance because they interpret furtherbiological data. However, laboratory-scale assays have other advantages, such as the control ofcertain variables.
