Resumen:
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common hormonaldisorder in reproductive‐aged women. In these patients, obesity, in-sulin and leptin resistance and inflammation are prevalent findingsand are associated with comorbidities that include development ofconditions like type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and metabolicsyndrome. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression ofdifferent molecules, leptin receptor (LEPR), insulin receptor (INSR),insulin receptor substrate 1 and 2 (IRS1, IRS2) and suppressorof cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) in blood leukocytes as potentialbiomarkers of metabolic and inflammatory status in PCOS wom-en. Women in reproductive age (20 to 40 years) with and withoutPCOS were recruited and these were matched for body mass index(range 20.7-39.3). The mRNA expression of the mentioned mole-cules was evaluated by real-time RT-PCR. Similar expression ofLEPR, INSR, IRS1 and IRS2 were observed between women withand without PCOS (p>0.05). However, SOCS3 increased in PCOSwomen (p
