Resumen:
The aim of the present study was to assess the activities of kidney and liver metabolicenzymes due to damage caused by acute ischemia in rats. The activities of γ-glutamyltransferase (γ-GT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), 5′-nucleotidase (5′-NT), glucose 6-phosphatase (G 6-Pase) and succinate cytochrome c reductase (SuccR) were analyzed incontrol and ischemic groups of rats. The cellular redox status (thiobarbituric acid reactivespecies (TBARS), glutathione levels (GSH), catalase (CAT), Superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities) were also assessed. γ-GT andALP were not sensitive to ischemic damage in liver or kidney. A slight decrease of GSHwas observed in both organs. TBARS levels were increased in liver. A decrement of liver5′-NT activity was detected. TBARS levels and 5′-NT activities did not change inkidneys. SuccR, G 6-Pase and enzymatic oxidative defense systems were not altered byischemia in the liver. On the contrary, in kidneys a decrease of SOD, SuccR and G 6-Pasewas observed. This preliminary study shows that after inadequate blood flow, induced byclamping the thoracic aorta, the liver displays different and less marked effects thankidneys.
