Los reportes anuales informan el progreso realizado durante el año en el proyecto del duraznillo de agua. En estos se informan tanto resultados preliminares como nuevas metodologías aplicadas. También publicaciones, cursos y actividades de extension. Estos informes son compilados con todos los proyectos de FuEDEI y presentado tanto a los cooperadores como al publico general.AbstractLudwigia grandiflora subsp. hexapetala is a South American plant that has become an important weed in the US and parts of Europe. The FuEDEI has worked on the selection of biocontrol agents since 2007. Liothrips ludwigi Zamar, is a promising candidate that showed firm fidelity to L. g. hexapetala and L. peploides. The damage potential of this thrips on L. g. hexapetala was evaluated as well. In a previous test it was estimated that significant damage was achieved by 8 nymphs per stem. Similar tests were performed with 15 nymphs. L. ludwigi nymphs significantly reduced the biomass, the stems length, and the number of leaves produced by killing the apical and axilar meristems. Host preference of this insect between the L. g. hexapetala and L. peploides was also tested. In order to eliminate the effects of maternal host plant on adult fecundity and preference, a 3 step experiment was designed. Preliminary results suggest a certain level of preference for L. peploides.
