Descripción:
Waterhyacinth, Eichhornia crassipes, is a worldwide aquatic weed originated in South America;its associated fauna has been studied at SABCL/FuEDEI since the ?60. During the reportingperiod, activities were limited to the field collection and preparation of laboratory colonies forshipment to the U.S. of Megamelus scutellaris (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) and Neochetina spp.(Coleoptera: Curculionidae). The Neochetina weevils are well known waterhyacinth herbivoresthat were shipped from Argentina in the 70s, and have been released all over the world.
