The aim of this paper is to present new lithic,zooarchaeological, chronological and rock art information from thearchaeological sites located in the Northeastern coast of Pueyrredón-Cochrane lake, in the Northwest of Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. The evidence studied will be useful to discuss about peopling dynamics in this area of Patagonia. According to data gathered until now, the Northeast area of the lake represents a very important ecological zone due to topographic, lithic, floral and faunal resources availability. In a previous presentation, we defined a potential sample area with altitudinal variations from 150 to 700 m a.s.l. The main purpose is to evaluate if this environment, with better natural conditions than the surrounding areas, was an attractive place for first peopling and led to a possible diferential consumption of lake resources. Surveys conducted have shown the existence of open air, rockshelter and cave sites with datable stratigraphical levels. Radiocarbon dates place human occupation of thearea in ca. 5000 years BP.
