Resumen:
Between 1970 and 1980, many ornithological prospections have been made inCentral Argentina. With this work we intend to fill in the existing gaps regarding suchknowledge. We conducted bird?s surveys in Central-western of Córdoba province. Weidentified 240 bird species (63% of province?s avifauna) belonging to 48 families; 10 ofwhich are considered under some threat category, 37 migrants, and two endemic. Throughout a qualitative analysis of ordination, we identified three clusters of environments that sharesimilar bird composition. Among those, the most dissimilar groups included aquaticenvironments, whereas the two other groups included wooded and anthropized environmentsand high altitude environments, respectively. The high bird richness and the different kinds ofenvironments in a relative small surface, confer to this area a high bird conservation value. The Inclusion of this area in the system of ?Important bird Areas? (IBAs) may prompt protection actions.
