Sugarcane vitroplants produced at EEAOC under ISO 9001 Standard Certification

Since 2001, the Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (EEAOC) leadsthe ?Vitroplant Project? in order to obtain seed cane of high phytosanitary quality andgenetic purity for productivity improvement. The first stage of the process that involves thein vitro culture of apical meristems from donor plants previously hydro-heat-treated and themassive micropropagation of plants take place at the Biotechnology lab. In 2016, to addvalue to the product and increase customer satisfaction, a Quality Management System(QMS) was implemented in this stage under the international standard ISO 9001:2008.Several actions applied to the main process and the support ones, were carried out toachieve this goal. In September 2016, IRAM verified the Quality Management Systemimplemented and its development degree and in December 2016, Certification was reached.In 2017, as a new version of ISO 9001:2015 was released, political, economic, social andtechnological factors that could be a source of opportunities, threats, strengths andweaknesses, as well as the relevant requirements of the interested parties were considered.At the end of 2017, the QMS was certified under ISO 9001:2015 standards. Thisachievement allows reassuring the ability to offer products that meet the requirements ofcustomers under an international certification.
