Resumen:
Superconducting cables have been fabricated by Powder-in-Tube (PIT), employing Grade 2 titanium for the sheath material and a mixture of 95at.% MgB2 (325 mesh, Alfa Aesar) and 5at.%SiC(20 - 30 nm) for the powder. First, single filaments were prepared by lamination or drawing [2]. Then, several core configurations have been assembled in order to achieve better mechanical stabilityand flexibility in the multifilamentary wires. In this work, the presence of texture in the cables induced by drawing have been evaluated using XRD pole figures . Monofilamentary and multifilamentary cables have been compared in order todetermine the effect of different deformation degrees arising from the thermomechanical treatments. Finally, the critical current density of the cables (Jc) was evaluated using a SQUID magnetometer.
