Resumen:
Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a group of infectious diseases, many of themparasitic, which mainly afflict the poorest people and with limited access to healthservices. NTDs have received limited attention despite their magnitude and impact onglobal public health. Chagas, Leishmaniasis, and Malaria diseases are NTDs and are asignificant health problem in Latin America, affecting millions of people. Currenttreatments for these diseases have numerous disadvantages: duration of treatment is longand with a high cost, low therapeutic indexes, side effects, teratogenicity and drugresistance. There is an urgent need for new or improved treatments for these diseases. In this work, a new chemical entity derived from the monoterpene compound thymol wassynthesized, structurally characterized and evaluated its activity in vitro against NTDs, asChagas, Leishmaniasis and Malaria diseases.
