Resumen:
The archaeological heritage of the city of Olavarría, an intermediate city located in theprovince of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is made up of a reduced number of sites that are notaccessible and whose public knowledge is scarce. This contrasts with the recognition enjoyedby assets of architectural value and collections found in the local art museum (movableheritage). The objective of this paper is to reflect on the local case, taking as a basis the SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDG), especially target 11.4 related to the protection and safeguardingof cultural heritage. Through the use of qualitative data collection techniques, a set ofindicators aimed at evaluating institutional management were constructed, and then appliedto three selected assets belonging to each of the aforementioned categories of heritage. The results obtained will make it possible to show the strengths and weaknesses of theinstitutional management in relation to each category and put on the agenda the problemsrelated to the archaeological heritage in order to contribute to reaching goal 11.4 at thelocal scale. It is intended, in this way, to tend to promote sustainable cities and communities.
