Resumen:
Vitrification of porcine spermatozoa, using the spheres
method in the absence of cryoprotectant, permits
preservation of sperm chromatin condensation and
integrity. It would be interesting to evaluate if vitrifiedwarmed
porcine spermatozoa maintain the capacity to
produce zygotes in vitro, using the ICSI technique. The
results showed no significant differences in percentage of
zygotes (P>0,05) between the group of oocytes injected
with vitrified-warmed spermatozoa (42,9%; 39/91) and the
group injected with extended semen preserved at 17° C
(34,2%; 26/76). This shows that porcine sperm vitrification
in spheres, using TALP medium without cryoprotectant,
would not only preserve spermatozoa with condensed and
intact chromatin, but also with the capacity to produce
zygotes using the ICSI technique.
