Resumen:
Poaching is one of the biggest problems that face up species in extinction risk in the Misiones province, such as the Jaguar (Phantera onca), Harpy Eagle (Harpía harpyja) and the Tapir (Tapirus terrestris). In this work, an algorithm for gunshot identification in forest audio acquired with Wildlife Acoustic SM4 professional recorders is presented. Based on the frequency analysis of acoustic emission of gunshots from different types of gun, the proposed algorithm filters the signal, amplifies impulses and, finally, through adaptive thresholding, signal segments compatible with gunshots are identified. Results obtained from more than ten hours of real signal recordings show that the proposed algorithm allows the analysis of a lot of information in a fast way and that it is possible to detect poaching events at distances up to one kilometer for some guns.
