Resumen:
Many species of insects feed on crops, damaging different parts of the plants and generating significant economic losses, leading to the need to take measures to control them, often to the detriment of the environment and health. Among insects, butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) contain the largest part of the species most harmful to agriculture, the larva (also called caterpillar or isoca) always is the stage that causes the damage. The objective of this contribution is to compile information to facilitate decision-making when managing a crop. Key pests associated with Argentina main crops are addressed. An easy-to-use key is provided for the identification of last instar larvae and a card for each species. These cards contain information that will help in the identification and management of the pest, including a brief diagnosis, biology, host plants, damage, control and management, as well as other pertinent information. We hope that this work will be a guide for producers, agronomists, biologists and anyone interested in pest control and crop management in Argentina.
