Construction of mutant herpes simplex virus type 2 for the development of preventive and therapeutic vaccines

We present here the results on the construction of mutant herpes simplex virus type 2 for the development of preventive and thecapeutic vaccines:The HSV-2 genome is being cloned into a bacterial artificial chromosome to facilitate manipulation of its genome. A HSV-2 BAC clone was isolated and its identity is being confirmed by sequencing and PCR. We will be next creating mutants devoid of glicoprotein E gene in orden to generate an attenuated strain.
