Resumen:
Two outbreaks of equine influenza were reported in Germany during 2013July 2013 case: Yearling coming from UK/Ireland for sale. Twice vaccinated with Duvaxyn. No clinical signs at time of sampling. Nasal swab was originally sent for EHV testing (no EHV vaccination records). Found positive for Influenza (ct 32). December 2013 outbreak (report from Laboratory Dr. Böse GmbH). Two horses in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The diagnoses were made by PCR on nasal swabs taken from two adult crossbred horses (one mare and one gelding) during the course of a clinical investigation, with the animals having presented with clinical signs of fever (up to 40 °C) and muco-purulent nasal discharge. It is reported that at least one of the affected horses had been vaccinated against equine influenza, although few details of the vaccination history were known at this stage.
