Resumen:
Methanolic extracts and aqueous decoctions and infusions and from Malbec, Syrah, Chardonnay and Tannat marcs were prepared. The evaluation of the antibacterial activity was conducted by determining MIC100, MIC80 and MIC50 by the agar dilution test, starting from extract concentrations of 1000 ug/ml. The acute toxicity toward fishes and crustaceans was assessed by using a bioassay designed by our group based on the test used by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Columbia National Fisheries Research Laboratory). Chardonnay extract presented moderate activity against Staphylococcus aureus showing a MIC50 value of 250 ug/ml. The same extract did not present acute toxicity toward fishes and crustaceans when it was evaluated in concentrations above the 1000 ug/ml.
