Resumen:
The Andean condor(Vultur gryphus) is the largestvulture species, provides valuable ecosystem services, and is considered sacredby all native cultures of the Andes. Globally, the Andean Condor has just beenuplisted to Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. Any human-induced threatincreasing Condor mortality, such as deliberate poisoning, lead intoxication, and illegal hunting may cause a rapid decline in V. gryphus populations acrossthe entire range of the species. However, the Andean Condor now faces a newthreat: wind farm deployment in the Andes Mountains.
