Benzophenone-3 (BP-3) is used as sunscreen in topical formulations due to its light-absorption properties. However, this compound can present thermodegradation in unsuitable storage conditions and systemic side effects. Microemulsions (MEs) can protect and release labile compounds in a sustained way. This work proposes to evaluate the thermal stability of BP-3 in an o/w microemulsion and its performance in permeation studies.
