El procesamiento de los guanacos en la meseta central de Santa Cruz. El análisis de la fracturación ósea en conjuntos del holoceno medio

The aim of this presentation is to analyze fracture patterns registered in zooarchaeological contexts from Alero El Puesto 1 (AEP-1), and Cueva Maripe sites. Both of them are located near wet patchs in the Central Plateau of Santa Cruz Province. This allowed us to evaluate the variability of processing and consumption practices in reference to Lama guanicoe (guanaco) carried out by hunter-gatherers societies during Middle Holocene. The results show that the main frequencies correspond to cultural fractures. These could be related with marrow consumption or with the procurement of osseous raw material to tools manufacture.
