Resumen:
The epithelial layer not only serves as a passive physical barrier with external environment.Intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) sense external or endogenous danger signals and mount a robust immuneresponse to maintaining intestinal homeostasis. We previously demonstrated that lactobacillus increasePaneth cells and intestinal antimicrobial activity to keep this balance. Our aim was to furthercharacterized the effects of probiotics on the intestinal epithelial barrier (IEB). Mice were fed withLactobacillus casei CRL 431 (Lc431), Lactobacillus paracasei CNCM I- 1518 (Lp1518) for 7 and 5 days,respectively, or water.
