This paper analyzes how the question of democracy was framed in parliamentary debates where the Basic Law: Israel?the Nation State of the Jewish People, was discussed. This presentation considers the ethnic democracy and the ethnocratic perspectives and argue for a Lefortian standpoint as a means to confront these notions.
