Resumen:
Food products containing a high level of moisture generate detection signals on their own when passing through a balance-coil metal detector, even when not contaminated with metal. Metal detection methods for these cases necessarily involve signal processing strategies. Standard versions of these strategies usually take only the values of the detection signals into account but not their shape, i.e. not the order in which these values appear. In this paper, we develop a method able to improve metal detection sensitivity by appropriately taking detection signal ?shape? into account. This requires a strategy for achieving synchronization between the signals corresponding to different items passing through the detector.
