Resumen:
Dissociations between performance on lexical retrieval tasks with nouns and verbs (N-V) in aphasia have traditionally been interpreted as processing difficulties at the level of lexical form. For example, the summation hypothesis assumes that effects on spelling performance reflect the grammatical organisation of verbs and nouns at the level of orthographic form (Hillis, Rapp, y Caramazza, 1999; see also Shapiro y Caramazza, 2003). A related view is that morphology differs for nouns and verbs across languages (Tyler et al., 2003). According to other authors however, N-V dissociations reflect a continuum of shared and distinguishing properties between nouns and verbs at different levels, such as lexical,  conceptual-semantic, phonological, and syntactic (Black y Chiat, 2003; for a discussion on naming, see Dell, Schwartz, Martin, Saffran, y Gagnon, 1997).
