Resumen:
In this work, it is introduced the synthesis, characterization and its application in the ethanol oxidation, of Cu catalyst supported on a natural clay (AN) and an aluminum pillared clay (AP). The natural support is a bentonite extracted from the Cuyo region in Argentina. The AP support, was synthesized from an aluminum oligocation with OH/Al=2, incorporated to a bentonite in a proportion of 20 meq of Al per gr of clay. By using the AN and AP samples as supports, we prepared Cu catalysts by the wet incipient method, with different salts as former materials: CuCl2.6H2O, Cu(NO3)2.3H2O y Cu(C2H3O2)2  in different quantities. The catalysts were characterisized by different methods and tested in the ethanol oxidation reaction. Except in the case of the natural clay, the activity of the prepared compounds demonstrates their potentiality in the selected reaction, where the active phase quantity (Cu) and the support characteristics (perhaps its acidity), play an important role.
