Resumen:
Cognitive-motor interactions in Parkinson Disease (PD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are an emerging research area, specially related to the Language domain. Recent studies suggest semantic (verbal) deficits in early PD and ALS. In an attempt to test the hypothesis of motor influence on verbal processing, early PD was diagnosed according to the UK PD Society Brain Bank (UKPDSBB) criteria, motor symptomatology in patients were examined with the Unified Parkinsons Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and the Hoehn and Yahr Stage 1 or 2 Scale (H&Y) while on medications. Early ALS/MND, all participants fulfilled the El escorial criteria for probable or definite MND, and control subjects, matched by age, gender and educational level performed the kissing and dancing test (K&D) and a paradigm of reaction times (RTs) based in the action sentence-compatibility effect (ASCE).
