Resumen:
Over the last decades, stagnation in the rate of reduction of adolescent birth and infant mortality rates as well as in low birthweight prevalence in Latin America remarks the need to focus on social disparities among population as drivers of maternal and child health (MCH). As one of the most urbanized regions in the world, examining the influence of social urban environment on these outcomes becomes key to understand which strategies could be developed at local levels that could improve MCH in Latin America. Results from three studies from SALURBAL project will serve as evidence for discussion on this question.
