Resumen:
2,4-D is a systemic herbicide that acts as a growth inhibitor. It does not apply to tobacco because it destroys broadleaf plants and weeds, so its presence in this product is linked to the drift of neighboring applications and previous soil preparation. Internationally, this residue is evaluated and the maximum permitted levels are 0.20 mg / kg or less as it is recommended by the International Committee for Tobacco Research (CORESTA). A method of quantifying 2,4-D in tobacco is presented in this work. It consists of a simplified extraction and clean up methodology (QuEChERS method) and an evaluation by liquid chromatography with detection by triple quadrupole mass spectrometry. The chromatographic method allows the simultaneous determination of other residues, but the extraction must have special dedication to achieve the necessary limits of detection. The analytical curve was constructed using matrix matched solutions in five levels of concentration 0.10, 0.25, 0.51, 0.76 and 1.01 (mg / kg), obtaining an R2 of 0.9996. The percentage of recovery for the study point of 1.01 mg / kg was 72% and the coefficient of variation of the method is 2.26%, with a limit of detection of 0.02 mg / kg.
