This paper is part of my PhD research entitled ?Idyllic Generic Constructions and Social Practices: Infanticide and Filicide in the Province of Buenos Aires from 1886 to 1921? and intends to analyze the tensions between the gendered construction of motherhood and fatherhood, the legal discourse of the State and the social practices originated by the cases classified as ?infanticide? and ?filicide? by the Ministry of Justice of the Province of Buenos Aires during the criminal encoding process that took place during this period.
