Resumen:
The citrus fruit production chain is one of the largest and most technologically advanced industries in Argentina and Uruguay. To preserve the fruit against fungal spoilage and other pests a bunch of fungicides and insecticides are currently employed. Pesticide residues in fruits have always been an important food safety issue. There are some reported methods for the analysis of pesticide residues in citric fruits, mainly in mandarins, lemons and oranges but there are few reports on grapefruits. Grapefruit is a complex analytical matrix as their secondary metabolites like polyphenols (methylated flavones and flavanones), antranillic acid, coumarins, limonoids, etc., could either be co-extracted with the target pesticides, hamper the extractability of the basic ones or degrade them, interfering in the determination step. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the influence of experimental parameters on QuEChERS Citrate (QC) methodology applied to grapefruit pesticide residue analysis using a factorial design.
