Resumen:
DDT (CAS Registry Number 50-29-3) was used worldwide as a potent insecticide and insect repellent, initially for the control of insects that spread disease (e.g., mosquitoes for malaria and lice for typhus) and later for agricultural and domestic purposes. Although cheap to produce, stable, and with low mammalian acute toxicity, concerns over environmental persistence and bioaccumulation led to the widespread banning of its use starting with Hungary in 1968. The tendency to decline its use was reinforced by Stockholm Convention in 2004. At present, several organisms such as IARC determined that DDT is ´probably carcinogenic to humans´.https://doi.org/10.1016/B978-0-12-824315-2.01064-2
